Full Review: BOTE Flood Aero 11’

By the SurfboardFishing.com TeamUpdated January 202512 min read

The BOTE Flood Aero is the Swiss Army knife of SUPs. It paddles well enough for fitness and recreation, yet accepts BOTE’s Rac receiver accessories when you want to fish. At 33 inches wide, it’s slightly less stable than dedicated fishing boards, but most intermediate paddlers will feel confident casting from it. If you can only own one board and want fishing capability, this is the smart choice.

On-Water Performance

The BOTE Flood Aero 11’ delivers solid performance across the key metrics that matter for fishing. At 33″ wide, it provides good stability for casting and gear management. The aero center fin + 2 side fins provides reliable tracking, and the 315 lbs weight capacity handles a full fishing loadout with room to spare.

Build Quality

Construction quality is exceptional for the price point. The deck pad provides comfortable, grippy footing even when wet, and the overall build inspires confidence that this board will handle the demands of regular fishing use. At 26 lbs, portability is a strong point — easy to carry solo to the water.

Value Proposition

At $899, the Flood Aero 11’ delivers outstanding value for the money. Paddlers who want one board for both recreational use and occasional fishing trips

The Swiss Army knife of paddleboards

I wanted one board that could do everything — family paddle days, fitness paddling, and fishing trips. The Flood Aero nails it. On weekends I snap in the Rac rod holders and hit the flats. Weekday evenings I pull them off and do a fitness paddle. Build quality is classic BOTE — tight seams, firm inflation, premium feel. At 33 inches it is slightly less stable than the Rackham for fishing, but the versatility makes up for it.

BOTE Flood Aero 11’ FAQ

Common questions about the Flood Aero 11’ for fishing

Consider your body weight plus gear weight to determine the capacity you need. Look for boards at least 33 inches wide for fishing stability. Decide between inflatable for portability or hard shell for performance. Set a realistic budget including aftermarket accessories you may need.
Most SUPs can accept aftermarket accessories like clamp-on rod holders, bungee-mounted crates, and strap-on gear tracks. Boards with built-in gear tracks or mounting points make accessory installation easier and more secure.
Rinse with fresh water after every saltwater session. Store out of direct sunlight when not in use. For inflatables, store partially inflated or loosely rolled. Inspect seams and valves regularly. Apply UV protectant spray every few months for boards stored outdoors.
At minimum, you need a Coast Guard-approved PFD, a leash, and a whistle. We also recommend a waterproof phone case, a small first aid kit, and a signaling device. Check local regulations as requirements vary by state and water type.
