WCAG 2.1 Level AA TargetPartially ConformantOngoing Improvement

1. Our Commitment

We believe that the web should be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or technology. SurfboardFishing.com is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, including people who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnification software, voice recognition software, and alternative input devices.

Our accessibility efforts are guided by the following principles:

  • Accessibility is a continuous process, not a one-time fix
  • We prioritize fixing barriers that prevent access to core content and functionality
  • We welcome feedback from users who encounter accessibility barriers
  • We will provide accessible alternatives when full conformance is not immediately achievable

2. WCAG 2.1 Principles (POUR)

WCAG 2.1 is organized around four core principles. Here is how we address each one:

P

Perceivable

  • All images include descriptive alt text
  • Videos in our library include captions where available
  • Color is never the sole means of conveying information
  • Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content
  • Minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text
O

Operable

  • All interactive elements are keyboard accessible
  • Navigation menus are operable via keyboard
  • No content flashes more than 3 times per second
  • Skip navigation links available for screen reader users
  • Focus indicators visible on all interactive elements
U

Understandable

  • Page language declared in HTML lang attribute
  • Error messages are descriptive and suggest corrections
  • Form labels are clearly associated with their inputs
  • Navigation is consistent across all pages
  • Unusual terms and abbreviations are explained
R

Robust

  • HTML is valid and well-structured with semantic elements
  • ARIA roles and attributes used where appropriate
  • Compatible with current assistive technologies
  • Content works across modern browsers and devices
  • Status messages programmatically determined

3. Technical Specifications

5. Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. The following known limitations exist and are being actively addressed:

Embedded YouTube Videos

Partial
Issue

Third-party YouTube embeds may not fully comply with WCAG 2.1 AA. Captions depend on YouTube's auto-generated or creator-provided captions.

Workaround

We link to the original YouTube page for each video where you can enable captions and adjust playback settings.

Interactive Maps

Partial
Issue

Google Maps embeds on location pages may present keyboard navigation challenges for some users.

Workaround

All location information (address, coordinates, directions) is also provided as plain text alongside the map.

PDF Resources

In Progress
Issue

Some downloadable resources may not be fully tagged for screen reader compatibility.

Workaround

Contact us to request an accessible version of any resource.

Complex Data Tables

In Progress
Issue

Some comparison tables on board review pages may be difficult to navigate with screen readers on small screens.

Workaround

All table data is also available in the written review text above each table.
